Hey Beautiful People
How are you doing, I hope it’s been a good week so far. For me, it started off with that Monday feeling but I do feel better now. Yes, I did promise I will be writing a part 2 in relation to blogging and I hope you got one or two things from the first post. So, let me jump right into it.
One of the biggest fears I had, when I started blogging was that question most of us will ask ourselves when doing anything new and that is ”who will read what I write”. I am not an influencer, it’s not a popular blogger, and I have zero marketing skills or awareness. Particularly for my blog, it has reached people by word-of-mouth, someone sees my post on WhatsApp, and Facebook (back in the days when I would repost there). They will read my post and probably tell someone else about it. Also, I have come to understand that since I really do enjoy writing these posts, even if it only gets read by one person, then it’s a win for me. The most important thing is to be consistent with it by God’s grace. So, once you have conquered the fear of people not reading your blog, then you need to bear in mind that not everyone will connect to what you write. Some people will criticize, judge or even disagree with your contents. Trust me, although this may hurt sometimes as we always want people to agree with our opinions but honestly, it’s not a big deal. Everyone will not accept what you post, the same way you will not accept certain things posted by other people. Therefore, this should not stop your flow, your voice and story just keep writing your truth.
The benefits of having a blog are countless, as I mentioned a few in Part 1 of the previous post. In addition to those, blogging lays a platform that allows you to track and save all your previous posts in one place rather than posting random WhatsApp messages to people at odd times. You can also choose to link your blog spot or blog website to various social media platforms for wider coverage. I had mine linked to a Facebook page that was dedicated to my blog posts, but I’ll be honest with you I haven’t been consistent with it. However, I plan to work on how I can link this back and extend it to various platforms which I will share my progress with you all. I personally believe that with a blog you’re not under any social media pressure, as you are in control of managing when and what to post. Despite this, if you happen to have a large audience that relies heavily on your blog contents i.e exercise or diet plans, then I will suggest you have an allocated day or days of the week to post so that they can get familiar with that date and look forward to it.
Looking back on how far I have gone with the number of articles I have written and remembering that I was not a great fan of the English language, yes my English was picked upon and some things this is still the case ”haha”. But this has not stopped me from writing and expressing myself. With the help of Google, Grammarly, and plans I have to upgrade my English by doing short courses online, I know that I can only get better at it. I could go on and on as to why having a blog can be beneficial, but I will share one last one, blogging can be an eye-opener and a road map to you becoming an ‘’Author’’, yes an author. If you spend time blogging you will gain the skill and patience that is needed to write a book. Who knows your book idea can come from one of the posts you have written if you decide to take it further. Please don’t be scared of writing a book, thank God for the editors they will help with the English language, you just do the writing. In addition, the time spent on blogging will begin to shape your interest and what you want to write about and probably someday talk about.
In Part 3, which is the last post in relation to bogging I will share recourses that can help you kick start your own blog. I hope I have been able to give you reasons why blogging can be a start to something great if you are looking for a platform to write and express your thoughts with the world.
xoxo,
